Description

Abdollah-Khan belonged to Ghara-Gozlu popular Family from Hamedan city in western Iran.
Abdollah-Khan had a high position in the army and the government. During his service, first he gained th title: “Saed-Al-Saltaneh”, then, the title changed to “Sardar-Akram” and finally: “Amir Nezam” that was the highest grade in the army. Because of his visit as a pilgrim to the Holy Mecca, he acquired the reputation as: “Haj Amir Nezam”.
He was the minister of finance in several cabinets during the final years of the Qajar period.
As shown in the painting, he was given the “blue Robe of Honor” which was the highest-grade “Medal of the Portrait of the King”. Also, some important medals are attached to his precious Kashmere gown. All those details of the outfit and Amir Nezam’s lively face are masterfully executed by the painter, Mosaver Al Mamalek.
The full name of the painter is: Samsam-Zolfaghari- with the title: Mosaver-Al-Mamalek. The description under the signature reads: “The portrait of the late Abdollah-Khan Amir-Nezam” at the age of 62, two years after he passed away.
