Hasan Ali Khan belonged to one of the most popular Kurdish tribes in western Iran, called “Kaboodvand of Garous District”. His ancestors were all in high positions from the Safavid, Afsharid, Zand and Qajar period.
Hasan Ali Khan, from his early child-hood under his father’s supervision, began to study Persian and Arabic literature. By the time he was 18, he had mastered the French language and literature and also several other languages. Thus, he was regarded as a highly learned and cultured gentleman in the upper society. His distinctive style in essay and calligraphy is well-known as “Amir-Nezam’s style”.
His role as the commander of the Garous Regiment in the army led to some important victories. Due to his knowledge and experience, he gradually acquired a fine command in political affairs. He was appointed as the ambassador to England, France, Germany and Belgium. He was also the guardian of 42 students who were sent to Europe to continue their studies.
While he was residing in Paris as the ambassador of Iran, many times he was invited to the court of Napoleon the third to play chess with the emperor.
Owing to his vast knowledge in French literature and amiability of his character, he had acquired a sincere friendship with the emperor and the queen.
Amir Nezam Garousi had a character of multiple talents. As a politician, he acquired a respectably high-status. As a commander in the army, he had several victories, and as a governor, he managed to serve the people in a righteous way and left behind good memories. In his social life he was an example of being a true gentleman. Thus, he was loved by all and regarded as a unique character of his time.
