Description
This historical painting is executed in the memory of the coronation of Reza Shah – Pahlavi, as the king of Iran. The painting exhibits all the minute details, including the Shah’s imperial crown, the kashmere gown and so many other accessories.
Sitting on the famous Peacock Throne, the shah wears the Pahlavi Crown, which was exclusively designed and made for the first monarch of the Pahlavi dynasty.
The face of the Shah reflects both pride and cheerfulness. He holds a very high-quality Kashmere gown on his shoulders. His official uniform is adorned by the blue robe of honor. The highest-rank medal “Zolfaghar” hangs on his neck and the golden imperial belt with a large shinning emerald is beautifully executed.
The lowest part of the Peacock Throne, ornamented with all its precious jewels, has an outstanding look.
At the left side, the blue flag of the imperial court on which the singe of “lion and Sun” in the middle of the crown is observable. Also, the first word of the holy phrase: “In the name of God, the merciful and the compassionate” is readable on the flag. The carpet on the floor, woven in Mishan-Malayer, interestingly reflects the dignity of its design and character. On the background, the walls and ceiling are elaborately covered with minute pieces of mirrors that create a magnificent atmosphere.
All in all, owing to the outstanding craftsmanship of the details executed here, this painting is truly a historical and a glorious work of art.
